As you may have read in our previous blog, "A Tale of Two Bellas," you know that when we had first started our little business, we had no IDEA what we were doing. We knew that we could do something so much more with our lives during the annual seasonal depression that lurks this island of ours, but we weren't quite sure what.
Candles soon became our thing. It's what we're now most popularly known for. But how did we figure this all out? It look a lot of research in trying to figure out the perfect step-by-step recipe. Constant research of various materials, varieties of waxes, how much fragrance to use for each batch, what temperature to pour, I mean the steps are endless!
Our very first batch of candles were God-awful. The atrocious colors that looked like the color of feces, and not to mention how they tunneled right down the middle forcing our very first sales with massive discounting. Did all of this mean we were going to give up? No! Despite all of the arguments and trial and error in between, we finally started to get our process down to the T.
We started with our first issue, the colors. We ixnayed those almost immediately. Second issue we dealt with was our wicks. We started out with hemp wicks but the tunneling was too much for our jars to handle. So we switched to wicks that not only make our candles burn evenly, but they are constructed from natural flat cotton threads that are woven with paper threads, oh, and lead and zinc FREE! Our candles are, and have always been, homemade from soy wax, which is a natural and renewable source. Soy candles are known for a longer and slower burn than the traditional paraffin candles. They're 100% soot free, non-toxic, and burn clean, making them all around a better choice for our environment.
Did you know candles aren't our only specialty? Not only do we specialize in our most eco-freindly form candles, we also make a multitude of beauty products and household decor that make the perfect gifts! (If you need to spoil yourself once in awhile, we're here to totally support that too!) We also make homemade sugar scrubs, made from a special blend of coconut oil, sugar, and essential oils to leave your skin feeling healthier than ever!
