When you think of candles what is it that comes to mind first? Is it the vast array of delectable fragrances or something more like the soothing effects it emits when it's lit on your dining room table?
These, among many other things, are why candles have the ability to host amazing benefits with the simple light of a match or flick of a lighter. Here are 10 reasons as to why:
One: In our small town the power always seems to be going out at some time or another, particularly in the later fall and winter months. In the pitch black where there is literally no visibility even in front of your face, having to scrounge around for fresh batteries for an old flashlight from the early 2000’s can be a daunting task. Have a candle? Then it’s no big deal. Just say f*ck the flashlight and spark one up! It may be old school but there’s a reason why candles have been around since the Ancient Egyptian times.
Two: The simple fragrance of a candle has the ability to bring back a whole slew of memories you didn’t even know you had! Remember that one time when you were underage and had one too many shots of the infamous alcohol by the name of “Fireball” or “Sinfire?” The night you were so blacked out that you pissed all over your best friend in the same bunk? *Sorry, not sorry* But yeah Becky, we’re grown up and we call that sh*t of a fragrance “cinnamon” now.
Three: Home décor! This is the reason why we’re here in the first place, is it not? Adding a simple candle to any room in the house can add an extra sense of elegance or a spark of individual personality.
Four: Fragrance. This one’s a no brainer. Hubby forget to flush the toilet? Light up a candle. Take out the trash? Light up a candle. Crop dust you while you’re zoned into your show on Netflix? Light up a candle. When there’s an opportunity for a better smell, spark it up baby.
Five: What better way to celebrate your 25th anniversary than with a beautiful candle lit dinner? There’s just something about a candle lit in front of you and your husband (or wifey) while eating dinner that brings a whole new level of romance to the table.
Six: Ever hear of the term “self-care”? Immediately I think of a long soak in my imaginary claw-foot tub. Face mask on. White claw in hand. Or if you’re a bit more classy, I guess a glass of wine will do. But hey, if you like to take shots in the tub that’s also none of our business. While playing the song “Perfect” by Johnny Gill. And your favorite candles surrounding the room. Let me tell ya! Total relaxation you just can’t beat!
Seven: Okay now, to be perfectly honest I’m kind of running out of ideas here. I love candles. My love for candles is never ending and there are a crazy amount of benefits that haven’t even been close to being listed! Have an idea? Shoot! We’d love to hear what benefits of candles are number one on your list!
